Known as the herbal "Aspirin" on account of it being rich source of salicylic acid. Accordingly it is an excellent pain reliever as well having astringent actions (will help with scouring). Is also particularly useful in treating gastric ulceration as it's known to reduce excess gastric acid secretion and protect the digestive tract.
